…Or rather that should be the ‘Focal & Naim’ app, as the long-established control app for Naim’s streaming products, available for Android and iOS, has recently been ‘Focalised’ to control both brands’ products. However, once you’ve set it up for use with Naim hardware, it’s (perhaps fortunately) freed from all the corporate co-operation stuff.

Refined over numerous iterations, it remains one of the slickest and most logical setup and control interfaces in the business, delivering into the palm of the hand complete mastery of the wide-ranging ability of products like the Nova PE. These cover streaming from local network storage via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, as well as handling services including Qobuz, Spotify Connect and Tidal, Internet radio, plus many more apps via AirPlay 2 and Chromecast. In addition, Naim’s app-driven multiroom system can integrate all flavours of the company’s streaming hardware – Uniti, the ND series, Mu-so and the NSS 333 network player [HFN Nov ’23] and NSC 222 streaming preamp – for synchronised music over the whole house or delivered to independent Zones.
