AudioSolutions Figaro M2 loudspeaker Gediminas Gaidelis
AudioSolutions was established in 2011, in the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius, by Gediminas Gaidelis, but its origin story goes back further than that. Gaidelis, then a 16-year-old ‘electronics hobbyist and emerging audiophile’, began building loudspeakers in the early 2000s to sell locally. In the following years he built up his business (Gediminas Speakers) while also completing a degree in electronics engineering and improving his designs. ‘I began producing speakers that were both significantly better sounding and, for our local market, positioned at a higher price point’, he explains to Hi-Fi News. ‘At that stage, it was no longer feasible to sell them directly from my living room.’
An unsuccessful audition of his speakers at a local hi-fi dealer led to the creation of AudioSolutions. ‘That experience solidified my determination to prove what a so called “DIY guy working in a garage” could achieve’, says Gaidelis. The first models from his new brand, the front-ported Rhapsody 80 and Rhapsody 130 floorstanders, debuted at Lithuania’s AudioGourmet show in 2011.
Fifteen years on, AudioSolutions has a small staff of eight, including Gaidelis’s wife and parents, and the Rhapsody range has been superseded. All the company’s loudspeakers are assembled and finished at its Vilnius facility, and all parts – except for drive units – are manufactured in house. Says Gaidelis, ‘We are very proud that our product origin is Lithuania. And because we do not have any shareholders, we can stay fully true to ourselves and our passion’.
